Making a rare return to the United States, Fond du Lac is proud to host once again, The 2019 World Ice and Snow Sailing Championships in our beautiful lakefront community. This is the longest running international competition in the sport of windsurfing - ironic given that windsurfing is a water sport.
Racing will be held on Lake Winnebago, the largest inland lake in Wisconsin. Race headquarters will be off the SE shores of the lake at Wind Power Surf Shop with access from Roosevelt Park. The lake and community offer all the amenities, conditions, facilities and spirit that will make your experience at the 2019 WISSA Championships unforgettable.
The Winnebago Association of Kiteboarders will be your host with over 25 consecutive years of holding ice races on frozen Lake Winnebago. The club will organize 6 days of international race events, including course racing, slalom, speed racing and freestyle for kites, sails, and wings. In addition to the daily WISSA championship racing, there will be heated shelters on the lake, bonfires, live music, fireworks and food and drink.
The week will be concluded with the 4th Annual Sturgeon Spectacular Winter Festival so C'mon in to Fond du Lac!!!

Lake Winnebago
One of the country's largest inland lakes at 220 square miles, is a haven for boating, fishing, water-skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, and windsurfing.
In warmer temps, take to the water in any kind of craft, from powerboat to sailboat to stand up paddleboard and all means in between.
Come winter, rocket across the ice propelled by a massive kite and watch Lake Winnebago turn into a mini-city on the ice during the sturgeon spearing season. Also becomes a great place for ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice kiting and sturgeon spearing!
Fond du Lac translates into "Foot of the Lake" - so put your toes in anytime! The mighty Lake Winnebago is your Fond du Lac area playground!
